We're a traditional Korean martial arts school based at Erith Leisure Centre, with classes for children and adults every Monday and Wednesday evening.
Whether you're looking to get fitter, build confidence, learn self-defence, or simply try something new — Kuk Sool Won™ training delivers all of that in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
No experience needed. Your first 2 classes are free.
Kuk Sool Won™ is a comprehensive Korean martial arts system covering striking, joint locks, throws, weapons, body conditioning, and mental wellbeing. It's not just about fighting — it's about building better versions of ourselves.
Led by Matt Scott, a 5th Dahn Master with over 25 years of experience, our school focuses on personal growth as much as physical skill. Matt started training at age 11 and has dedicated his life to helping others discover what martial arts can do for them.
Martial arts gives children something screens and classrooms can't — real confidence built through achievement. Our classes teach self-defence alongside respect, self-control, and teamwork in a fun, supportive setting.
What your child will gain:
- Genuine self-esteem and confidence
- Self-control and respectful behaviour
- Teamwork, social skills, and new friendships
- Better coordination, balance, and stamina
- A sense of achievement through belt progression
Parents are welcome to join in and train alongside their children. If your child has specific goals — like building confidence or social skills — let us know and we'll tailor our approach.
The teenage years bring new challenges. Our classes go beyond physical training to develop leadership, emotional resilience, and mental wellbeing — skills that make a real difference at school and beyond.
What you'll gain:
- Leadership skills and a sense of responsibility
- Confidence through setting and achieving goals
- Conflict resolution skills backed by real self-defence ability
- Emotional resilience and stronger mental wellbeing
- Improved fitness, flexibility, and coordination
When children are ready, we invite them to train with the teenager and adult class for a greater challenge. This happens on a case-by-case basis — we push students to grow, but never beyond what's right for them.
Whether you're a complete beginner or have previous martial arts experience, you're welcome here. Many adults join with a specific goal — fitness, stress relief, self-defence, or just trying something new. Tell us yours and we'll help you get there.
What you'll gain:
- Improved fitness, strength, and flexibility
- Practical self-defence skills and confidence
- Stress relief and better mental wellbeing
- A friendly community of like-minded people
We're a family-oriented club — parents can also join our Children's classes to train alongside their kids.

"My son goes to this group which is held in the Erith Leisure Centre twice a week, he enjoys coming to every session and has now gained his 3rd belt, and is much more confident than he used to be. The instructor Matt is very professional but is very approachable and will always be happy to answer any questions/problems you may have, I highly recommend this class if you or your child or both are interested in starting Martial Arts."
